Adding Assessment Data

Modified on Mon, 5 Jan at 6:02 AM

Staff at a school can upload assessment data in 2 main ways (inputting the scores directly or uploading data through the Excel Uploader) by following the steps outlined below:

Before beginning, it is a good idea to read the Understanding Assessment Data article.

Step 1

  • From the Equipple ‘Home Screen’, you should click the tab at the top bar which says ‘Notes’.

Step 2

  •  In the top left-hand corner, click ‘+ Add data’.

Step 3

  • You will then be asked which assessment you would like to add assessment data for:

If the assessment category you need doesn't yet exist, you can follow this article to create a new one.

Step 4

  • Select the assessment you would like to add data for and you will see this pop-up: You are now ready to add data in 1 of 2 ways. We will begin with entering the scores manually.

Entering Scores Manually

Step 5

    • Select the class that you would like to add data for as well as the date that the assessment was completed. You can then click ‘add data.’

Step 6

  • From here you can manually add the the scores for each of the children in that class and they will automatically save and populate the dynamic graph on your notes page. You can even leave a note beside a pupil’s result (for example if they were absent) if you would like.

Once you have finished uploading the scores simply click ‘exit’ The data saves automatically and will appear in your notes section.

Uploading using the Excel Uploader
To upload assesment data using the Excel uploader please follow steps 1-3 above but this time we will select ‘Upload Your Own File.’

This upload function allows you to upload your own Excel spreadsheet. If you don’t have an Excel then you can generate your own by selecting ‘generate a blank CSV template.’ This template can be useful as it will provide you with all the information that you will need to upload data easily including UPNs for your pupils which make life much easier to identify pupils.

Generate a Blank CSV Template

  1. To use this feature simply click on the button and select the classes that you would like to generate a template for and click ‘generate template.’

You will be asked to name the file and you will then be able to download it.

Universal Uploader

  1. Now you are able to upload your own Excel document simply select ‘Upload your own file.’

    2. You will then be asked to upload or drop your file into the uploader and it will begin to assess         the data that you are uploading.

    3. Next you will be asked which classes you would like to upload assessment data for. Select the         correct classes and click ‘confirm.’

4-    The next step involves matching data to columns from your Excel. You must first select             which assessment category you are uploading data for. The uploader will automatically search         your data and attempt to match the necessary fields such as the pupil identifier, assessment             date and the score. If it cannot find these you can manually assign which column in your Excel         contains that specific field.

The status symbol on the right will help you check whether you are uploading the correct field. There is also an indication below each column to show you the first row value so that you can check whether you’re uploading the correct information.

If there are multiple results contained within the same Excel document then you can upload more results from the same file by selecting this button:

5- You will then be able to match additional assessment records within the same Excel.

6- Once you are finished you select ‘Upload’ and the Uploader will match all the pupils with their assessment points. If all students are matched then you will see this image and you can select ‘finish’ and your data will appear in the pupils’ notes.

7- When you return to your pupil notes, select a child and when their profile opens, you will now see that piece of assessment data has been uploaded.

Congratulations, you have now used an advanced Equipple feature to build a more holistic picture of your pupils. You can add as many assessment areas and data points as you want.
